The line is designed to separate ferromagnetic (steel) cans from mixed municipal waste, in which magnetic and non-magnetic materials are mixed together. The typical input material is municipal waste after preliminary rough sorting — the line extracts the magnetic metal fraction as a separate output stream ready for further processing.
The line processes up to 5,000 kg of material per hour. It captures magnetic cans of various sizes — the powerful neodymium magnetic drum MB 506 x 800 N ensures reliable separation even with diverse input material and varying can sizes typical of municipal waste.
The gate in the hopper controls the thickness of the material layer fed to the vibratory feeder and then to the magnetic drum. A uniform and adjustable material layer is a prerequisite for correct separation — too thick a layer could cover some cans and reduce capture efficiency. The gate allows the line to be adapted to varying density and composition of the input material.
No. This line operates exclusively on the principle of magnetic separation — it captures only ferromagnetic (steel) metals. Aluminium cans and other non-ferromagnetic metals are not affected by the magnetic field and pass through the line without being captured. If separation of the aluminium fraction is also required, lines equipped with an eddy current separator ECS are suitable.
This line is intentionally simple and compact — it is designed for operations where sorting magnetic cans from municipal waste is sufficient without the need for further sorting by material or colour. More complex lines from the SOLLAU portfolio add ECS for aluminium, NIR sorting of plastics, or multi-stage quality control. This line offers an optimal performance-to-investment ratio for specific municipal waste applications.
We design and manufacture every separation line to order according to the specific type of material, its granulometry and the required capacity. We also implement lines for sorting plastic waste, glass waste and other materials — we always adapt the equipment configuration to the specific application.
The delivery covers the entire process — from site survey, design and custom manufacturing through assembly, commissioning and operator training to authorised service throughout the lifetime of the equipment. We provide a 5-year warranty on the magnetic core of the MB separation drum. Before placing an order, we offer free testing of your material with a guaranteed turnaround time of three days.
