Plate magnets MS-MC-B
The plate magnet is one of the simplest, but highly efficient magnetic separators. Most often, the magnetic plate is installed in inclined chutes, ducts or pipes to remove ferrous fine particles and larger pieces of tramp iron from various types of bulk materials (in order to protect the processing equipment or to increase the purity of the processed material). The magnetic plate is fitted with ferrite or neodymium magnets.
The convenient price and easy installation make of the plate magnet one of the most versatile magnetic separators.
Plate magnet installation
Installation of the magnetic plate is very easy. There are several M8 threads on the back of the magnetic plate (depending on the plate size there are from 4 to 8 threads), so you can quickly install it on the needed place.
Usually the magnetic plates are placed:
- over the belt conveyor (either across the belt or parallel to the belt at the head of the conveyor), this installation mode is also called above-the-flow application
- under the belt conveyor, this installation mode is also called below-the-flow application
- into vertical or inclined pipelines
The main advantage of the plate magnet is the variability of its use and the ease of installation (you can easily create a magnetic separator according to your requirements).
Separator cleaning
The collected tramp metal is to be released and removed from the plate magnet manually. We recommend that the trapped iron particles are removed regularly, as large amounts of the collected ferrous particles reduce the efficiency of the magnetic separator.
Easy placing an order in e-shop
The plate magnet is available in widths of 210 and 310 mm and lengths from 210 to 1010 mm. The magnetic plate height is 100 mm. However, we can produce the plate magnet in any size on request.
These plate magnets are fitted with ferrite magnets (sometimes also called ceramic magnets) that are sufficient for the vast majority of applications (e. g., for the separation of nails, washers, bolts etc.). If there are to be separated fine particles (such as metal filings, work hardened stainless steel, shavings, metal wear residue etc.), the plate can be equipped with the strongest neodymium magnets (= rare earth magnet material).

The MS-MC-B is designed for flexible installation without the need for specialist assembly. It is most commonly positioned above a conveyor (directly above the belt or over the head roller), beneath a conveyor as a slide plate, or inside vertical or inclined pipework. The back of the magnetic plate features M8 threaded inserts (4 to 8 depending on size), making self-installation straightforward.
We manufacture the MS-MC-B in three versions: ferrite MS-MC-BF in 210 mm width (2,800 G, max. installation height 120 mm), ferrite MS-MC-BF in 310 mm width (2,800 G, max. installation height 150 mm), and neodymium MS-MC-BN (5,000 G, max. installation height 190 mm). The ferrite version covers the vast majority of standard applications; we recommend the neodymium version where stricter separation requirements apply — for example, when capturing smaller ferromagnetic particles.
Captured metal particles are removed manually. We recommend regular cleaning — a heavy build-up of metal on the plate surface reduces the efficiency of the magnetic separator. The cleaning frequency should be set according to the contamination level in your specific process.
The MS-MC-B is designed for bulk materials with abrasive or hard-to-penetrate properties where ferromagnetic contaminants must be captured to protect downstream equipment or improve product purity. It is suitable for the food, feed, pharmaceutical, chemical, ceramic, and wood-processing industries, and anywhere separation must not restrict material flow.
We supply the MS-MC-B in standard widths of 210 and 310 mm and lengths from 210 to 1,010 mm; plate height is 100 mm. Selected sizes are available for immediate dispatch from stock — please check current availability with our sales team. Custom dimensions are available on request, and the magnets can also be purchased directly from our online shop.
