Suspended electromagnetic separators DND-AC E – a highly efficient solution for automatic separation of ferromagnetic contaminants from material conveyed on belt conveyors.

We manufacture several variants that differ in the size and power of the electromagnet. They can be installed crossbelt or inline over the conveyor.

Among suspended magnets, electromagnetic overbands provide the deepest and strongest field, ideal for removing steel particles when there is a deep burden on the conveyor.

Compared to permanent designs, their disadvantages are higher energy consumption and greater weight.

The electromagnetic field can be switched off at any time – e.g. for service or safety.

These suspended electromagnetic separators are used in the mining, recycling, energy and construction industries to protect crushers, mills and belts from damage caused by metal contaminants.

Installation of DND-AC E suspended electromagnets – crossbelt or inline over the conveyor

Suspended electromagnets can be installed in two ways – crossbelt over the conveyor, or inline above the head pulley – depending on the material and operating conditions.

Most often, electromagnetic separators are mounted crossbelt over the conveyor.

Inline installation above the head pulley is suitable where the material is loosened in motion and the magnetic field can penetrate deeper. This configuration is recommended, for example, for poorly flowing feedstocks or when there is a deep burden on the belt.

Thanks to various sizes and power ratings, the electromagnetic plates can be easily adapted to your application and to the requirements of individual industries.

We know that reliable separation of metal contaminants is not a given. That is why we treat every DND-AC overband magnet as an expert - each piece is carefully tested and the results documented.

    Carried out at distances ranging from 0 to 400 mm from the belt, in 50 mm increments, so that we know the actual reach of the magnet in real operating conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions – Electromagnetic Overband DND-AC E

The suspended electromagnet DND-AC E is an electromagnetic separator with automatic self-cleaning that is suspended above a belt conveyor and separates ferromagnetic contaminants from the conveyed material. Thanks to the deepest and strongest electromagnetic field of all suspended magnets, it captures even heavy steel parts hidden beneath a high layer of material, down to a size of 1.5 mm. It thus protects downstream crushers, mills and belts from damage.

The DND-AC E electromagnets generate a deeper and stronger magnetic field than permanent suspended magnets, making them more suitable for applications with high material layers or with difficult-to-penetrate raw materials. Unlike permanent magnets, their field can be deactivated at any time – for example for safety or maintenance reasons. The disadvantages are higher electrical energy consumption and greater weight.

We manufacture four models: HIPPO (belt 700–1,200 mm, height 300 mm, low consumption and acquisition costs); RHINO (belt 1,000–1,400 mm, height 400 mm, high performance even for poorly permeable mixtures); ELEPHANT – the most powerful model (belt 1,300–1,800 mm, height 500 mm, also for poorly permeable mixtures); and MAMMOTH (belt 1,500–2,000 mm, height 600 mm, low consumption). Each model is available in multiple width variants.

The electromagnet can be installed transversely above the conveyor (most common option) or longitudinally above the chute at the head pulley. Longitudinal suspension is recommended for difficult-to-flow materials or thick layers on the belt, because the material is loosened during movement and the magnetic field thus penetrates more deeply. Thanks to various sizes and performance variants, the electromagnet can be adapted to any specific application.

Automatic cleaning takes place without interrupting production – captured ferromagnetic contaminants are continuously conveyed away from the magnet surface by means of a cleaning belt or scraper elements. The operator does not need to regularly stop operations or clean the separator manually, which reduces operating costs and eliminates the risk of human error.

We thoroughly test every separator before delivery: we measure the magnetic flux density at distances of 0–400 mm from the belt in 50 mm steps and verify the capture of reference objects – specific ferromagnetic items such as nuts, wires or nails. A test report with measured values is included with every delivered separator. In addition, we perform free material tests for customers within 3 days.

The DND-AC E is used primarily in the mining, recycling, energy and construction industries, where it protects crushers, mills and belts from damage by metal contaminants. It is also suitable for municipal waste processing, quarries, cement plants and wherever bulky or heavy bulk materials are processed with a high risk of metal contamination.
