Eco-friendly metal separation in lignin biopolymer production: a two-stage waste-free solution (case study)
The production of lignin biopolymers places high demands not only on process quality, but also on environmental performance and sustainability. Metal impurities that enter the liquid medium during production had to be removed reliably – while also avoiding unnecessary waste that would burden the environment.
The goal was clear:
- separate metals from the process, but do not discharge them into waste together with the rinse liquid.
Two-stage separation: a smart solution that makes sense
The answer was a two-stage magnetic separation combining:
- MSP-AC 50 N SHARK automatic magnetic filter
- MVS-LUX 300 N magnetic discharge roller
This system works as a closed, environmentally friendly separation loop.
Stage 1 – automatic metal separation in the MSP-AC 50 N SHARK magnetic filter
In the first step, metal impurities are captured by the MSP-AC 50 N SHARK automatic magnetic filter, designed for pressurised pipelines and liquid mixtures. The filter runs continuously and without operator intervention.
During automatic cleaning, the captured metals are:
- rinsed with water,
- released from the magnetic rods,
- prepared for the next separation step.
And this is where the crucial environmental difference comes in.
Stage 2 – no waste, only clean metals thanks to MVS-LUX 300 N
Instead of being discharged into waste together with the rinse liquid, the metals are conveyed by compressed air to a separation vessel fitted with the MVS-LUX 300 N magnetic discharge roller.
This roller:
- is fitted with the strongest neodymium magnets,
- separates metal particles from the rinse liquid,
- ensures that the outlet contains almost dry metals.
As a result, the metals do not end up in waste, but where they belong – ready for further use or environmentally responsible disposal.
