Self-cleaning overband magnet DND-AC: reliable separation of nails from shredded pallets (case study)
At a facility focused on wood waste processing, a typical issue arose during pallet shredding – a large amount of metal nails in the shredded material. The pallets were first shredded in a shredder and then transported by a belt conveyor for further processing.
Without effective metal separation, the following risks occurred:
- damage to downstream equipment,
- production downtime and service interventions,
- reduced quality of the output material.
The solution had to be simple, robust, and fully automatic.
Simple installation, maximum effect
A self-cleaning magnetic plate DND-AC was installed above the belt conveyor, suspended across the conveyor. Its task is to reliably capture ferrous nails directly from the stream of shredded material – without operator intervention and without interrupting operation.
The unit
- automatically separates metal nails from shredded pallets,
- operates continuously,
- protects downstream equipment and improves safety and operational continuity.
Result
- reliable separation of metal nails,
- trouble-free operation,
- protection of equipment after the conveyor,
- and above all maximum customer satisfaction
