Metal detector QUICKTRON 05 A for gravity
The advantageous price and high sensitivity make the QUICKTRON 05 A the most often used gravity style metal detector used to check free flowing gravity fed bulk materials.
The highly sensitive gravity style QUICKTRON 05 A metal separator is used to detect and reject metal contaminants from bulk materials gravitationally transported in pipelines. The detector is fully automatic, equipped with a high-speed reject flap that instantly diverts the contaminant from the product stream and minimizes the loss of a good product.
The QUICKTRON 05 A detector is easily integrated into existing installation thanks to its low overall height and compact dimensions.
We supply this gravity free-fall style metal separator for pipes with a diam. of 50 – 300 mm as standard. We can also offer this detector for pipes of other diameters and shapes (square, rectangular).
This detector is equipped with a powerful AMD 05 control unit with a range of advanced functions such as automatic product setup, automatic calibration, or the digital filtration system. The unit is fitted with a 5-line LCD display and controlled by 4 ergonomic buttons. Its operation is simple and intuitive. The control unit is installed on the detector frame, but it can be also placed outside the detector.
The open frame construction allows unlimited accessibility to all components for easy cleaning.
Digital signal processing enables excellent detection results and the robust detector design contributes to its maximum lifetime.
Principle advantages of a gravity free-fall style metal detector
- Metal detector for inspection of bulky material during free fall. All metal particles are detected and it is both off-shell particles and the ones in the form of inclusions in the end product.
- Extremely exact and reliable detection of metals.
- Resistant and robust – favourable investment.
- Versions with the ATEX certificate are available.
- Compactness making the integration into already existing production plants and lines easier.
Working principle
The metal detector of the Quicktron series is installed in a pipeline, transporting free-falling bulk material. The inspected material passes through the reject assembly. If the material is contaminated with metal particle(s), the contaminant in the product stream alters the high frequency field generated by the search coil. The electronics evaluate this signal and generate an impulse for the solenoid valve and double actuating air cylinder of the reject assembly. The contaminant is instantly diverted from the good product stream assuring minimal good product loss. The reject flap then automatically returns to its normal position. The detector operation including the elimination of contaminants is fully automatic.
Thanks to the high-speed reject flap, its operation is very fast and accurate enabling minimization of the loss of good material. The reject time is adjustable - In the case of several metal particles being present, the reject time will be extended accordingly to assure a metal free product..

Sensitivity of a metal detector
The detector sensitivity depends on many parameters, such as the aperture diameter (the smaller the aperture, the higher the sensitivity), the material speed, the density of the product, its temperature, humidity, etc.
Maximum obtainable sensitivity can be established by testing your product sample in our laboratory. We will perform these tests free of charge. Please contact us, we will discuss the test execution as well as the dispatch of your material samples.17.03.2022

Gravity free-fall metal detectors are specialised devices designed to inspect bulk and freely flowing materials that pass through a pipe or channel under the force of gravity. They are installed in production lines of the food, pharmaceutical or chemical industry, where they detect and automatically reject metal contaminants before further processing or packaging of the product.
We offer six models of gravity free-fall metal detectors for the food industry: Metal detector METRON 07 PowerLine, Metal detector METRON 07 FlatLine, Metal detector QUICKTRON 07 RH HyQ Clean, Metal detector QUICKTRON 05 A, Metal detector METRON 05 CR, and Metal detector PHARMATRON 07 HQ. Each model is designed for specific applications and differs in sensitivity, design and control unit.
Sensitivity depends on the specific model and aperture diameter. For example, the Metal detector METRON 07 PowerLine achieves sensitivity of up to 0.4 mm for ferrous metals (Fe), 0.5 mm for non-ferrous metals (NFe) and 1.5 mm for stainless steel (SS). The Metal detector QUICKTRON 07 RH HyQ Clean detects Fe from 0.5 mm, NFe from 0.6 mm and SS from 1.5 mm. Exact values always depend on the aperture diameter and the properties of the inspected product.
The Metal Free Zone (MFZ) is a protective area around the detector where no metal structures must be placed, to avoid interference with detection. The Metal detector METRON 07 PowerLine and Metal detector METRON 07 FlatLine do not require a Metal Free Zone thanks to their special design concept, which greatly simplifies installation and saves space on the production line. The Metal detector QUICKTRON 05 A and Metal detector METRON 05 CR do require a Metal Free Zone.
A gravity free-fall metal detector operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The material falls freely through the detection head under gravity, which generates an electromagnetic field. If the material contains a metal contaminant, it causes a change in this field, which the device immediately registers. The control unit then activates an automatic ejector that removes the contaminated product from the production process.
The detectors are equipped with two types of control units. The models QUICKTRON 07 RH HyQ Clean, METRON 07 PowerLine, METRON 07 FlatLine and PHARMATRON 07 HQ use the AMD 07 unit with a 5.7" colour touch display, Ethernet connectivity, remote mesuNET access and memory for 500 products. The models QUICKTRON 05 A and METRON 05 CR are equipped with the AMD 05 unit with a 5-line LCD display, 4 buttons and memory for 500 products.
Yes, our gravity free-fall metal detectors are certified and designed for the food industry — they meet hygiene requirements and are made from materials suitable for contact with food. The Metal detector PHARMATRON 07 HQ is specifically designed for the pharmaceutical industry with the highest demands on hygiene and detection sensitivity. All models comply with applicable standards and regulations in force in the EU.
We provide comprehensive service support including installation, commissioning, operator training and regular calibration. To verify correct detector function, test pieces are available for regular sensitivity checks. Customers can also use the mesuNET remote access for monitoring and managing detectors over the network — available on models with the AMD 07 control unit.
