Free fall metal detector QUICKTRON 03 E

The gravity metal detector QUICKTRON 03 E is used to detect and reject metal contaminants from bulk materials gravitationally transported in pipelines. It is often used for detecting metals in plastic foil flakes.

As the gravity-fed foil flakes could clog the pipeline, this detector is fitted with a double reject flap. This prevents pipe clogging and minimizes good material loss without the interruption of the material flow.

The detector is equipped with high-quality components ensuring the maximum endurance of the entire device.

The control unit is very simple to operate, stable and resistant.

Principle advantages of a gravity free-fall style metal detector

  • Metal detector for detection from foil flacons.
  • Automatic detection and separation of metals without the interrption of the production process.
  • All metals both free and hidden in the material are detected..
  • Evaluation electronics with synoptically organized buttons for easy putting in operation and control.
  • Double flap and big diameters of pipeline available ensure the fluent flow of material and it is at very light v-shaped flacons.

Working principle

The metal detector of the Quicktron series is installed into a pipeline used for the transport of free-falling bulk materials.

The inspected material passes through the reject assembly. If the material is contaminated with metal particles, the contaminant in the product stream alters the high frequency field generated by the search coil. The electronics evaluate this signal and generate an impulse for the solenoid valve and double actuating air cylinder of the reject assembly. The dual reject flap prevents the detector from clogging. The contaminant is instantly diverted from the good product stream assuring minimal good product loss. The reject flap then automatically returns to its normal position. The detector operation including the elimination of contaminants is fully automatic.

Thanks to the high-speed reject flap, its operation is very fast and accurate, enabling minimization of the good material loss. The reject time is adjustable.

A gravity (free-fall) metal detector is used when material is conveyed by free fall — i.e., it passes through a pipe or chute under its own weight, not on a belt. The material passes through the detection coil directly inside the pipe, enabling 100% flow inspection without any special product handling. If your production process involves gravity transport of bulk materials, this option is generally more compact and easier to integrate than a belt-based solution.

Sensitivity depends primarily on the aperture diameter of the detector — the smaller the diameter, the higher the sensitivity. For example, the Gravity metal detector QUICKTRON 03 R with a DN 30 mm aperture achieves a sensitivity of 0.5 mm (Fe sphere); at the largest aperture of DN 200 mm, this is 1.75 mm. Sensitivity is also influenced by other factors such as speed, density, temperature and moisture of the material — which is why we offer free tests on your material.

The Gravity metal detector QUICKTRON 03 R is an economical option with simple rejection, suitable for standard bulk materials such as granulate, regranulate or regrind. The Free fall metal detector QUICKTRON 03 E features a double rejection flap that prevents pipe blockages — choose this model especially for light film flakes. The Metal detector PDK COMPLETE is a complete purification system including a detector, vibratory feeder and transport unit, designed for dosing from big bags or drums without additional equipment.

We supply industrial metal detectors for gravity with aperture diameters from DN 30 to DN 200 mm. For the Gravity metal detector QUICKTRON 03 R, this corresponds to capacities from 1,000 to 44,800 litres per hour. If standard dimensions do not suit your operation, we manufacture a custom detector with a different diameter, height or frame.

Yes, we also offer industrial metal detectors for gravity in ATEX versions designed for explosive atmospheres. When enquiring, please specify the required ATEX zone and category so we can propose the correct design for your operation.

The standard delivery includes the detection head, AMD 03 control unit, connecting cables and operating manual. The compact dimensions and low installation height make it easy to integrate into an existing line. We manage the entire project: we visit, take measurements, manufacture to size, install, commission and train your staff. Authorised warranty and post-warranty service is also included.

Yes — we carry out free tests of your material on our equipment, with a guaranteed result within three days. Tests are essential for correctly determining detector sensitivity, as every material behaves differently. Simply contact us and we will arrange for samples to be sent.
